This piece was made on a very cold weekend in Bristol with sketching friends in March 2022. I sketch on location perched on my little stool on the pavement. I start by drawing in pen and then add watercolour, collage, other pens and finish off with rubber stamped lettering. Look closely and you'll find all sorts of odds and ends including teabag strings, bits of old books, maps and a layer from a box of chocolates...
The sketchbook I use is a 'concertina sketchbook' which is a seemingly endless sheet of paper folded to make a book so I can keep sketching as much as I like - which is a lot over a weekend...
This beautiful unframed print is life-sized, the same size as the actual sketch, so it's long!
